Rooney Mara (born April 17, 1985) is an American film and television actress. She made her acting debut in 2005 and has gone on to star in films including the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "The Social Network".
Our favourite role of hers, has to be the heroine she layer as Lisbeth Salander, the title character in the 2011 version of the film "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" - the first of three Sony Pictures films based on Stieg Larsson’s Millennium book series. She received critical acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama...and not to mention, she totally kicks ass!
Rooney is involved in outside projects & charities. Not only is she an amazing actress, but she puts her fortune where her mouth is, and works to help others (which was the icing on the cake really for us) She oversees the charity Uweza Foundation, which supports empowerment programs for children and families in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, which is one of the largest slums in Africa.
For us as an ethical brand, this really fit true to our hearts and we were won over! Theres none of this *celebrity* front with her...and whats more, her fashion sense is amazing. The Golden Globe awards this year, Rooney rocked up in this cut-out gown by Nina Ricci, when asked about what she was wearing, she simply replied:
“I didn’t have an idea in mind when we started, but this was the first dress I tried, and I decided right there. It’s comfortable and that’ the most important thing.”
She's a girl who goes for comfort, without compromising her style - WIN!
Her natural beauty, and her fashion sense then landed her on the front cover of Vogue UK, shot by Jonathan Van Meter - again another win!
For the film "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Mara's makeup was done by Pat McGrath and costumes were created by Trish Summerville. Rocker hairstylist D'Anilo cut her hair, shaved the sides, bleached her eyebrows and dyed her hair black. All in one sitting. Mara admits the brows were the biggest shock. (Much as they were for Saorise Ronan - Another girl after our own hearts, who had to have hers bleached for her role in Hanna last year and told FASHTrack, "I was walking around Berlin feeling like I had no face.)"
We totally recommend the film - its well worth a watch! ...and another one is HANNA. Both Amazing! (pics to follow of Saorise)
Love, Emi.
