Goodbye 2012! Hello 2013!

So, this will be the last post from us at Emi HQ for 2012, we are off to the mountains in Italy to party the night away with good friends of course in style!

What can I say, this has been one helluva year for me and the brand. The biggest change for us I would say is now operating out of Switzerland. Its been a tough ride, and a scary one. Its not so often that a 25yo up sticks and moves to another country where he cant speak the language!

But, all being said, Ive stuck it out and all is going fantastic.

Emi is now stocked in 25 stores in 4 countries around Europe. I would love to thank our agents for their fantastic hard work and for all the press coverage the brand has received over this past year. The brand has grown so much and we have stayed true to our hearts and our core values. Spring 2013 is set to be huge with all the experience we have gained from these past seasons. Some old favorites will be back online for sale, and some really amazing pieces!

My favorite collection has to be our final, Anarchy in the UK, as this screams so much attitude and is a total reflection of my personality. I love things to be a bit different with that gothic/punk influence.

Since emigrating I have made some great friends, and Id love to take a little opportunity to thank Miriam & Federica for supporting me through these last few months. Without them, I know the brand wouldnt have made it and I wouldn't be writing this last post. So, thank you girls.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet, and wrap it up here. Look forward to seeing in 2013! Thanks for following me and the growth of my little jewellery brand Emi.

Lots of love,

Xander Kostroma.

PS - and here's 2 pictures of me and the girls. :)

Loving BEBE!!

BEBE (Maria Nieves Rebolledo Vila) is Spanish signer born in Valencia de Alcantara, who burst on the scene in 2005 after winning international recognition for winning The Best New Artist award at the 2005 Latin Grammy Awards for her album Paruera Telaranas.

We love her for her quirky fashion sense and clever styling when it comes to piling on the accessories! And give credit where credit is due, instead of churning out song after song after song, in 2009 she announced that her album pafuera telaranas would be her debut and her farewell because she was retiring from the stage for a while.

Bebe said that even if her label would pressure her into releasing a new album, shes "not thinking of making another CD for quite some time. For a little more than two years i've promoted the same CD and i'm still not done"

GO ON GIRL!!!

We love her song K.I.E.R.E.M.E. Check the video out on YOUTUBE.

Artist uses Pantone colours to try and document every type of skin tone

You know when you're shopping for makeup and two shades that seem virtually identical are called two completely different things by different brands? And, of course, we’ve all had those moments when a shade looks just right in the store, but the minute you step into the sun it's horribly, horribly wrong. But what if someone could specify a universal shade that exactly matches your skin tone?
The Humanae project is trying to do just that. The brainchild of Brazilian artist and photographer Angelica Dass, 33, who studied fashion design in Rio de Janeiro, the aim of the project “is to record and catalog all possible human skin tones,” according to the project website.
Dass takes portraits of people of different genders, races, and ages, then takes 11×11 pixel samples of their faces. From there, she is able to translate that sample into a Pantone color. She then floods the back of the portrait with the subject’s shade, and arranges the images like a paint sample with color codes on the bottom. According to her website, Dass uses Pantone colors because their alphanumeric codes allow them to be accurately represented across different types of media. So far, Dass has only photographed in Spain, but she has her sights set on expanding her subject area. "What I really wish is to photograph all over the world," the artist told TODAY.com.
We're somewhat skeptical that it's possible to document every human skin tone, but even so, what a cool idea! Maybe Pantone shades could become the new standard for makeup. We’d sure love to be done messing with all the vanillas, bisques, almonds, and toffees at the cosmetics counter.

In love with: Kurt Cobain (1967 - 1994)

Baggy clothes, blond hair, eyes you could fall into and an amazing singer & guitarist! ...what more could you want from a guy?

Another sad loss for the human race. Another entry into the 27 club.

Some of my favourite pictures of Kurt as below. RIP.
