International Women's Day -50% off all orders at EmiJewellery.com until March 14th

With the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away - there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress. And with global activism for women's equality fuelled by movements like #MeToo, #TimesUp and more - there is a strong global momentum striving for gender parity.
And while we know that gender parity won't happen overnight, the good news is that across the world women are making positive gains day by day. Plus, there's indeed a very strong and growing global movement of advocacy, activism and support.
So we can't be complacent. Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.
International Women's Day is not country, group or organisation specific. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. So together, let's all be tenacious in accelerating gender parity. Collectively, let's all Press for Progress

IWD CAMPAIGN THEME CONTINUES ALL YEAR
March 8 sees the annual IWD campaign theme kick off for the year ahead, although many groups around the world adopt and promote the campaign theme from early in the year. The IWD campaign theme provides a unified direction to guide and galvanize collective action. The campaign theme does not end on International Women's Day. It's just the start. Throughout the year many groups worldwide adopt the IWD campaign theme for further campaign work, gender-focused initiatives, continuing activity and events. A great example of this was in 2017 when the USA Women's Hockey Team went on to adopt the #BeBoldForChange IWD campaign theme to later rally for equal pay, boycotting the national finals unless a suitable deal was struck. Many fans and further teams supported the campaign.

As part of #IWD2018 campaign and a celebration of women, we are offering -50% off RRP across our site for 1 week. Just use code "IWD2018" to get your discount! This offer will expire on 14th March.

Xander Kostroma Fashion Ltd is an equal opportunities employer taking particular care especially in women's rights. Xander believes that we should all be treated equally regardless of gender, sex or race. All of our staff members are paid fairly & equally, across the board.

Updated: Biodegradable plastics & fashion

Behind the scenes at Emi Jewellery, we've been working pretty hard to reduce our impact on the plant with the work that we do. From today, we have added in the below new paragraph to our about us page online. Check it out:

Packaging materials
Around 90-95% of the plastics that we use in our packaging are biodegradable. So what does that mean? It means that a special additive is included during the production process meaning the plastic will biodegrade in 12-24 months in landfill. This harmless residue matter is then absorbed leaving behind no micro-plastics and more importantly, 0 trace that the plastic we used once existed in the first place. Our polybags, address labels & bubble wrap are all biodegradable.
We use recycled paper, paper sellotape & plain cardboard boxes which can be recycled to ship our jewellery

What does this mean as a company?

Well, it means just that - we've almost eliminated the non-recyclable plastics from our business. Our postage bags, wallet docs & bubblewrap used to send our jewellery to our customers are all biodegradable.

Our paper is recycled. We use paper sellotape to close the packages and plain cardboard boxes which can be recycled to keep your new jewellery safe during transit.

Xander is working hard on a solution to eliminate the last 5% of non-recyclable plastics from our business which he is hoping to roll out by the end of 2018 so watch this space!

Now there really is no excuse for guilt free shopping!!

Enjoy!
Love, Emi. xXx

PG tips announces switch to plastic-free fully biodegradable teabags

The UK’s biggest tea brand is switching to fully biodegradable tea bags free from synthetic materials to cut down on plastic pollution caused by the nation’s favourite hot drink.
The first of the new eco-friendly pyramid teabags from PG tips – made from a plant-based material that is 100% renewable and biodegradable – will go on sale in UK supermarkets next week, it was announced on Wednesday.
In the first major move by a mainstream tea brand, the Unilever-owner company says it is working to make all its teabags from 100% plant-based material by the end of the year. Unlike conventional teabags, they will be free of polypropylene, a sealant used across the industry to ensure bags hold their shape.
Unilever’s scientists have been exploring plant-based alternatives for PG tips for some time and have already converted ranges in Canada, Poland and Indonesia.
According to the trade body the UK Tea and Infusions Association, teabags account for 96% of the 165m cups of tea drunk every day in the UK.
“Tea is the most consumed beverage in the UK, with nine billion PG tips teabags sold every year,” said Noel Clarke, vice president of refreshment at Unilever. “Our latest move maintains the same great taste of our tea whilst minimising our environmental impact.”
