Totally crushing on Florence & the Machine
Florence, from the infamous band Florence & The Machine has always been one of our favourite artists. If we could have a theme or a style of music that would sum up the brand, it totally would be her.
We just love the way she mixes vintage finds with quirky pieces. We love the way she uses these treasures from years gone by and re-invents them into her own personal style. Her choice of boho-inspired jewellery just ticks all of our boxes...!
The pic above is a complete winner for us, the bruises on her knees and her dishevelled look are so us! She's a complete tom boy - can just imagine her climbing trees and exploring old abandoned houses covered in mud, then with a quick change is back to being her beautiful self again.

SS12 jewellery inspiration - Olivia Mancini
Have you ever wondered where buyers/designers get their ideas from in the world of fashion?
Well, at Emi we are VERY much inspired by music and the world around us. I have been following a little unknown band called Olivia Mancini & the Mates and I came across a song called Graphology. Its beautiful.
The video features a little wooden house, shot frame by frame from quirky little characters in it doing really obscure things. Its quirky and really kinda cool.
Note the little wooden chairs, the quirky pictures and vintage theme to the video. Some of the pieces she has inspired are:

What I love about her, is that she is just a girl with a guitar singing her heart out. No pyro-technics, no nonsense, just raw talent. She's amazing. You can check out here video to Graphology here.
A little bit about Olivia:
When Olivia Mancini was a little girl in Washington, DC, she dreamed of being a rock and roll star. If not a rock and roll star, at least she would like to play in a rock and roll band. "Drum set" and "electric guitar" topped her Christmas list for years, but never appeared under the tree. With the necessary implements out of reach, Olivia concentrated on classical music, playing French horn in orchestras and bands. Then, one fortuitous day, Olivia crashed her mother’s car and was grounded indefinitely. But before the shackles were securely in place, she purchased her first guitar and spent the long hours of imprisonment rocking out. It was, oddly enough, a very liberating experience.
HAHA - what I like about her is that she does seem real, and really grounded...if not a little dippy, just like myself!!! I predict big things for Olivia and her band. She is definitely one inspirational girl!
I just hope she continues to play her beautiful music, and continues being true to herself.

Happy new year!
Well, last night was amazing!
Since moving to Manchester, I thought I would end up living right in the city centre - well, i couldn't have been further from the truth! I final settled in a small little village about 15miles away from Rochdale. I will admit, settling here was a bit daunting when I first came, but you know what after last night, I can honestly see now the community spirit and I have never felt more at home.
The atmosphere was amazing and the people are really friendly. I don't know why, but they all seemed to love me - and the fact I have a strong welsh accent seemed to help! haha.
So, today sunday 1st January i sit in the house feeling a sense of belonging and i can honestly say how happy I am.
You might have noticed over the past few days the site is having a mini-identity crisis! not to fret, I am re-establishing Emi's identity. I had realised that i had stripped away all of her identity - so that the product didn't match the site. silly i know, but i had tweaked, and tweaked and it all had gone.
Bear with us, you can still browse the sale section and take a preview of what SS12 has to offer.
My favourite piece (all ready) is the 5 owl knuckle duster ring set. These will be available from mid-jan onwards. bear with us, and stay tuned for a new site...with a brand new jewellery collection!!
